Air Mail

I made mail art on an airplane!!

Yep, I made these on the plane with my portable mail art kit!! The man next to me was quite fascinated by the whole thing.

OUTGOING:

Node Pajome (not sure if that's his real name..) I sent him a $1.00 in postage and he sent me a super cool zine full of mail art calls and random awesome-ness!!

Here's what he sent back:

And the Zine looks like this:

It's really neat!

More mail:

PC of the Golden Gate Bridge sent to Cricket/Lisa in WI.

Zelda in Switzerland. One of my new friends from NaNoWriMo.

Aunt Pam. (Who is actually, a friend's aunt but she is nice enough to be my aunt too!)

Postcard to Kyla Another Nano friend. Super sweet girl.

Chelsey, also known as "Clem" on Sendsomething

details on the stamp.

Postcard to Mattea. Also a plane creation. It's kinda hard to see but it says, "Usted habla espanol?"

And last but not least, some mail for Nicole! She's a fun gal! I love her mail!

Happy New Year!

First mail out(s) of the New Year!

And-now that I got a camera for Christmas (this is the third one so far, and counting.), I can take pictures again! Yay! But now that I think about it, I don't think I have any pictures of the incoming... O_o Sorry.

Outgoing:

To Milea! On the back I included the "Queen of Hearts" (who made those tarts) nursery rhyme.

Reply to Megs. We are passing a mail zine back and forth! It's very exciting. She has gotten me started on zines. I did one private one and I have another half-finished one which I haven't worked on in a while. I am really enjoying the process and it's fun to see what she writes in our zine every time I get her letters. It's called, "Making the Most of the Mundane."

Mail art call submission for "Eerie Sights" which I found at the Mail-Art Forum . This postcard went to Germany and though it doesn't look quite like an eerie sight, there is a creepy story behind it.

First letter of 2011!! (The others were sent in 2010)

 back

This one is for Jennie Hinchcliff . She finally wrote me back in early December and I just now got to it. I think she is a pretty busy lady. She sent the loveliest postcard! (which I neglected to take a picture of!) The quote says, "and one tall joker... scrawled upon a wall with his finger dipped in muddy-less--BLOOD. The time that was to come when that wine would be spilled on the street stones, and when the stain of it would be red upon many there...." It is a quote from A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.

 For Angelia

And last but not least, a reply for Nicole. As you can see from the corner, we've been sending this back and forth a couple times and adding onto it. It's great fun. You will probably see this in future posts at least a few more times.

The back.

Out going

This is all the outgoing mail for who knows how long. Unfortunately, I haven't taken pictures of incoming and I've missed a lot of outbound mail but here are the pictures I did take:

 To Tara

To an old school teacher. (I stole this idea from a flickr pool.)
To Chelsey. Also known as Clem from SendSomething
To Nicole in Massachusetts. She sent me an awesome piece of mail art.
Front. Letter to my cousin. While my aunt was here, she encouraged me to keep writing them even though they rarely write back. but it was good to know they appreciate my letters!
 back

The next few are sideways. :-/ Sorry.
 To a Tucson friend.
Nicole again. Front and back. I decided to do something different this time and include some things that are unique to Tucson.  It was super fun to make!

And that's all I got for now...

A Temporary Decline and the Rise of NaNoWriMo

Over the next month, there will probably be a temporary decline in the amount of mail I send out...

And this is due to NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month). The goal is to write 50,000 words of fiction in one month-which works out to about 16,67 words per day. I did it last year and finished with 55,000 words on the 20th but I don't have very high hopes for such a success for this year since I have no plan of action. You can find more lamenting about my plot in this post on my other blog Don't worry though! I will try my best to keep up with letter-writing!

If you're interested in finding out more about NaNoWriMo, it's a lot of fun. And its not too late to join the madness if you want to.

Desperate Times=Desperate Measures

To begin, I apologize for my absence and you may rest assured that these "desperate measures" do not involve the use of illegal postage. ☺

But they do involve the mailbox shown at left.

Since I had school, I missed the mail man and wasn't able to send this:

This is a fabulous birthday envelope that I sent to Christian, three days earlier than necessary (because I'm mean like that. ^-^) So, I walked to a blue mailbox (shown above) just so I could mail this letter. It was about 15 minutes there and 15 back- not such a long walk but still. I felt really awkward because it was right in front of a law office? (I don't remember what exactly it was..) But so I'm standing in front of this mail box and I have my camera out and I'm taking a picture of it! I so would've posed with it if there had been some one to take the picture and if it wasn't on a major street...

INCOMING:

THIS- was the most AMAZING letter ever!!! I got it a while back (a week or so ago? or three? I don't remember.) But I squealed when I saw it. I actually squealed. I held the envelope in my hands and I pranced and jumped around my parents saying, "It has monkeys and squirrels and pigeons and cheetoes and mountain dew!!!!" I was in a state of fabulous ecstasy. It. Was. Amazing. And she included a recipe for mountain dew cake! Which was awesome!
Finally got a reply from Martina. It was loveley!! I'll admit, I kind of overlooked the mail art (being more interested in hearing what she had to say on my comments regarding happiness.) but when I realized that the newspaper was written in German? Oh yeah. It was far-out cool.
A lovely letter from the lady at A Year of Letters Her name is Angelia and she is very nice!!

Letter from Tara She gave me a mix CD!! It was so awesome!!! No one has ever sent me a mix CD! :) It was VERY exciting.

OUTGOING:

Reply for Tara! She said the flower held up surprisingly well. Probably because I wrote "fragile" and "do not bend" all over the thing.
This is the Mix CD I sent her! I'm really proud of how it turned out.

This is my reply for Kim (who sent me the awesome squirrel mail..)

Reply for Martina. Continuing the commentary on happiness. Her English is actually very good! We've been discussing the feeling of happiness and whether or not it is an illusion of the mind... it's been very interesting!

For Bethany.

This is a postcard I sent to a friend from NaNoWriMo. Check it out if you enjoy writing. The madness starts Monday!!! Yeehaw!! So I sent this girl, Anna, a postcard describing my favorite methods of staying awake for late nights of noveling: massive amounts of Mountain Dew and Flaming Hot Cheetoes!!!!!

Lots of Pictures

Ah, it's been a while since I put up pictures but I have a lot for you now!! And, may I add that, I do not like the new way of posting pictures. *edit* Just realized I already posted my incoming mail. Sorry!

OUTGOING:

Reply to Tara. I sent her some rub-ons too! :)

^The backside.

To Lynsey's Aunt Pam who has been a postcard penpal of sorts. That is a haiku which I don't recall the words exactly...but I think it says:
It's Dark out tonight.
The moon hides behind the clouds,
I can's see the stars.

Mail art call to a lady in Italy. Key to my heart. It says, "Write me a letter and I'll love you forever. Send me your wishes, your dreams and your thoughts and gladly I will give you my heart."

Reply to Kyla in Oregon. She is a new penpal. She is almost like my twin!! So this is supposed to be a Coca Cola bottle but also representative of the west coast... Yeah I know it didn't turn out super great but that's okay.
Letter to Christiana H. from SendSomething (I'm getting good at these html things!)

This to my Aunt in California!
This is a postcard going out to Cricket M in Wisconsin. AKA Lisa. Also a S2 contact. She sent me a postcard earlier this week. Okay, so for this one, I used rubber cement, scotch tape (My BFF!!), AND staples to get those candy wrappers to stay on there. Believe it or not, it's true! *nods*

And last but not least, some squirrel post for Milea!! Goodness I love love loooove squirrels!!!! I really do!! It's an...obsession? I suppose you could call it that. But I like to call it a fondness. I have a special fondness for squirrels....
